I recently received my Ruger American in 450 BM and the trigger on this thing sucks! Adjusted it as light as it would go (about 4 turns) and still go back into the stock and I can't really feel any difference. I know about the Timney triggers and have no issue with that route, but wanted to see if anyone with more experience could shed some light if there are other/better options out there. Thanks, Joe

I changed a spring in my Ruger 77 when I had it and also pulled up a video that showed how the sear engagement could be squared with the trigger/finger lever as they were not squared and it was trying to lift on the sear as you engaged the trigger which caused heavier pull and creep. Try to find some youtube videos.

You'll have to let us know how this turns out. I guess I got lucky with my 450. I haven't put a trigger gauge on it, but its not bad for a factory gun. Still not a fan of the trigger safety, but I'll live with it for now.

My Ruger trigger was good enough for hunting purposes. I don't like the safety blade just like the Savage accu trigger which almost cost me a nice buck a few years ago when I had a Savage ML11. In the heat of the moment when I went to shoot this buck I only pulled the blade back far enough to touch the trigger. I thought what the heck didn't I put a primer on the bolt so I opened the bolt to check I saw the primer was there and then I also realized that I really didn't pull the trigger far enough luckily the buck wanted to die that day so I sent to 290gr Barnes his way dead deer right there.

Triggers always seem worse trying them at home. I'm going to give this one a little range time before dropping $140 on a Timney or similar. I don't expect it to be like my custom ML, but dang...this thing seems heavy!

I am probably going to replace mine with a timney. Mine has a lot of creep and that is the only thing I don’t like about this gun.I wish trigger tech made one for the ruler American.

I read quite a few negative reviews on the Jard trigger. Very few bashing the Timney. Minimal cost difference. I'll give the factory trigger a range day and if I'm still not happy, I think I'll go with the Timney. I wouldn't call myself a trigger "snob", but there isn't much I hate more than a heavy trigger with a bunch of creep! Thanks for the input guys.

If the blade is causing issues it can be removed the trigger will work fine without it. I had trouble with the blade catching on the main trigger on a Savage and just removed the blade. Should be just a pin and spring.

Years ago I had a Savage 17 HMR with the safety trigger blade and it was so far forward in the trigger guard I couldn't get my finger in there with thin gloves on so I took it out and reinstalled it before trading the rifle.
