Shot new to me 204 Ruger Thompson Encore 26" barrel at 25 yards with Fiocci factory ammo 40 grain Hornady bullets looks as though the bullets are hitting side ways not making a very definite hole Looks as though they are tumbling? Bore looks perfect didn't get a chance to try at 100 but if tumbling at 25 I can't see where they would fly right to 100 I am going to try my reloads at 100 They grouped very good with the fiocci ammoThanks

You will most likely need to shoot the 32 grain bullets, if your'e tumbling 40 grain bullets you don't have enough twist in the barrel.

Pulled the bullets on the Fiocci factory bullets and I had some Speer 39 grain Went to the range I never thought 1 grain would make a difference but they printed perfect no tumbling still going to try all the lighter bullets available

It's not the total weight of the bullet., it is the total length and amount of bearing surface. A 22 caliber 55 grain Seirra Blitzking will not shoot very good in some 14 twist barrels where a 22 caliber 55 grain Hornady V-Max will drive tacks.
