Got interested in trying smokeless ML about a year and a half ago. Ended up buying a converted .45 cal Encore barrel from a guy on another board. Could not get the action to close up when 209 primer was installed. Tried the barrel on all 3 of my pro-hunter frames. None would close shut. Ended up sending barrel along with frame stock and fore end back to original builder in Ohio. Two weeks later his shop burned down and there went my gun. About 6 months later he sent me a brand new gun.Brux ,MGM,.45 caliber. Only difference is new barrel does not have primer extractor like my original. Tried sighting it this spring with a variety of sabots and bullets. Nothing satisfied me as far as accuracy and several blown sabots. Read up on some smooth form sabotless. Ended up calling Kyle and getting some 275 Accumax bullets along with a lot of great advice. Been a little bit of a journey but finally got my 300 yd + whitetail muzzleloader. Thanks to boards like this and the knowledge of all you guys. Looks like my gun likes 57.5 gr of H4198 with a wool wad. P.S. Installed a wooden ram rod.Figured I'd keep it looking traditional. LOL

Great shooting!! Many times this year shooters have gave me feedback that their break action guns shoot better with a wad, dry wool specifically. Your report strengthens this statement even more. Good luck this hunting season!

Nice looking gun and awesome group. I prefer dry wool over veggie in my bolt guns.

The proof is in the pudding! Some guns like veggies and some like wool? That is why you can not always take someone else's word but have to test them yourself! Nice shooting BTW!............Bug holes rule

It didn't shoot too shabby with out a wad either. Seems to like 57.5 grains of powder. I think I'll stick with the dry wool wad though.

Great write up and awesome shooting.
I did some shooting earlier this week and took only 3 250 AccuMax to shoot. Used veggie wads and the 2 I shoot were about an inch + apart. I didn't want to shoot the 3rd cause I figured it wouldnt shoot any better than what the rest of the day was doing. I then shot 250 SST with wool wads and the group greatly improved. After your write up and some other write ups I'm going to try some more loads with wool wads. Veggie wads might not work in my rifle.
