I have my savage 10ml2 conversion to 45, 209 primer ignition that I'm looking to work up a lower recoil sabotless load with for hunting here at home when I can't shoot past 150 yards. Speed is not really a concern. I have some 300 grain accumax to shoot and N110, 5744, 4198, Rel 7, 4759, and 3031 to play with. Anybody have a go to load? Thanks

Hope you can still get good obturation for accuracy with a low power sabotless load and a single powder. I wouldnt be shooting high dollar bullets for short range work, just me though. A 300xtp will be tough to beat. Around 55gr H4198 used to be the ticket in 209 guns. That should be pretty low end by todays standards. If you duplex, 10gr n110 or sr4759 under 45-50 gr H4198 should be decent. A wad will likely help on a low end load.

Pretty much my thoughts too. A bullet with a thinner jacket such as a 275gr or 300gr BE is easier to get to shoot well in lower pressure loads. Plus its a shame to use a tougher high BC bullet when its not needed. If you can down size a 458 there are several cheap bullets that should work very well out to 150 and as low as 1800fps or even lower.
The 10/45 duplex sounds like a really good place to start.

I have some 300 BEs I can play with also. Another option would be 195BX or 200 SST in a sabot. I know what you mean about good bullets. I have the 325 accumax for the long rang stuff in my CF guns. I was gonna use the 300s in them, but decided to go bigger

My opinion is you will be happier using the 300gr BE for that application. It performs well at slower speeds. The cheap option i use is the Sierra 458 300gr FNHP resized in 2 steps. They are an excellent bullet to push slow and when BC isnt going to be very helpful.

I would also seriously look at Fury's 300 grain bonded star tip!
