Why don't you just up your powder charge of IMR 4198 or H 4198. You are really on the low side of where you could or should be if you want more velocity. Also since you are using a Savage style plug going to a duplex load will only cause more flame cutting on the sealing surface of the plug. I never have found any valid reason to duplex powder nor has any powder manufacture.

Depends on the powders you have.
For duplexing, I have gone to almost all N110/IMR3031 loads. Very accurate down to 250gr bullets. Haven't shot many 250ftx's, but a load of 10gr N110/75gr IMR3031 with full formed 250BE's gets me to over 3000fps and 1/2 MOA if I do my part. Same with 270 Emax. Neither is a hunting load.
Not quite as good groups, but my hunting load with a 275gr bullet is 10gr N110/70gr IMR3031.
This is with a 28" .451 barrel using the Savage plug.

is unique too fast for duplex I've shot Unique as a booster...If I remember right it was 7/63 Unique/H4198 ....2750fps with a 250 FTX. It's works as well as the others. Personally I preferred something a little slower.

Contact "Richard" on the board, he has a lot of experience with duplex loads.
Good luck

Is your Savage plug the vent screw type or the bushing type? Duplex loads EAT vent screws. Any primer powder faster than 4759 or N110 can open up a vent hole too much in as little as a dozen shots.
