After our Light gun 1,000 yard match on Saturday we always have plenty of time after the match so we held a fun shoot. The game was to see who could hit a regular size playing card which was the ace of spades. You had 6 minutes to shoot an unlimited amount of sighter shots at the back bank or at a 4" metal swinger at the base of the target frame. Conditions were pretty good. When ever you thought you were sighted in you could go right to the playing card and shoot one shot. So It sounds like it should be a slam dunk with a 1,000 yard benchrest rifle well we had 28 shooters and only two managed to hit the playing card and both were only hit on the edges of the card.
I thought I was dialed in pretty good but I missed the playing card ever one busted on me and said I should have shot one of my muzzleloaders maybe the only advantage there would have been was the size of the bullet .458 vs .243 I do believe my 6MM Dasher will out shoot my ML but it was fun next time I might just shoot Blue Thunder that would really shake things up if I won with a muzzleloader.

it can be done maybe not every shot but if you have good wind reading skills it will happen.
at that distance around 2011 I was averaging .8-.9 moa in 25mph winds with a mz 325gn @ 2650fps/209 which I'm proud of.
I was out in the field regularly & know some was luck but could strike a card in calmer conditions quite often I expect.
good luck on your quest!
