Yep, N110 loads on the lighter side are a great choice. The factory load data for N110 tends to get a bit rough on sabots if the barrel gets even slightly warm. My NULA loves N110 upto 41gr with 250gr or lighter bullets. Typically i dont go over 39gr of N110 just because it shoots really well and N110 aint cheap.

Nice thing about N110 a pound will last a very long time . For kids i had a 30 grain load of N110 . Very accurate with light bullets . 185 grain Dead Center bullets with Harvester Sabots less than MOA at 100 yards . Every Savage barrel is different just a suggestion .

The load I shot in my Savage was from 43 up to 44.5 grains of Accurate 5744 with either a MMP sabot or Harvester sabot. Bullets used were all 300 grain other than I did test some Barnes years back with no luck. Don't recall the weight of those but I know some were less than 300 grain. Personally they didn't work out in my rifle but perhaps a different powder/sabot would have changed that. With the price of the Barnes I wasn't willing to do a large amount of testing on them when the 300 grain Shockwave, SST, XTP, and Scorpion PT Gold did the job just fine.
I originally shot IMR 4227 in the rifle but gave that powder up after it cost me two deer in cold weather. I watched the bullet and sabot "ploop" out the muzzle and fall to the ground as the cross hairs sat steadily in the kill zone. Frustrated I blamed everything but the powder. Even I eliminated the other variables, it was indeed the 4227 causing the issue. I think Savage eventually dropped 4227 from the list of recommended powder. Perhaps that was the reason, I can not say for certain. 5744 always performed well for me regardless of temperature. All in all fired between 800 and 1,000 shots from that rifle. 5744 never had any ignition problems unless I used a non recommended sabot that didn't fit tightly in the bore. The Savage has a slightly larger bore diameter than you can expect to find in other 50 cal guns, that along with the smokeless is why the correct sabot should be used. MMP or Harvester Muzzle-loading both market sabots specifically for the Savage.
If you can get your hands on Accurate 5744 I wouldn't hesitate to shoot up to 45 grains with a 250 grain bullet and correct sabot. Best of luck!

I shot 42gns of IMR4759 with a 250sst with no problem...It is a discontinued powder but available in some stores not long ago ....N110 is a cleaner and a little hotter substitute for 4759....Imo if the .50 doesn't work out ,a custom .45 barrel is a quick fix....Good Luck...

I had to look back at some of my notes.
Start with 40 grains IMR 4759 and 250 XTPs. Light recoil around 1 MOA.
300 grain XTP MAG Reloader 7 62 grains-consistently under 1 MOA. Same with 44 grains of 5744.
My best load 1/2 -3/4 if I did my part: 300 grain match hunter. Looser fitting sabot-Harvester short. 57 grains N120.
