I finished what I will call breaking in Dolemite by shooting 50 shots with 300 grain XTPs. I had some 300 grain Parker match hunters so I sized eight of them and gave them a spin. The first three fit a little loose so I knurled them. I shot them yesterday right before dark. The first two shots were pretty much in the same hole. The third was at dark-opened the group up to 1/2 inch. I had time to squeeze in the other five shots this afternoon. Shots 1-4 were in the .2s. 2,3,4 were .1s, pretty much in the same hole. 5 opened the group up to .6. The last shot felt good but I could not see the red dot on the target. What was interesting is that my velocity jumped substantially today. Shot 1 - 2965 Shot 2- 3012 Shot 3- 3026 Shot 4- 3025 Shot 5 -3024 Yesterday my velocity using the same load but with the knurled bullets was 2944, 2926, 2929. Not really sure why the difference. The bullets seemed to load the same. Shot two today seemed a little loser but not much. I did notice that the bushing was lose when I pulled the beech plug. Don't know if this could account for the increase. I have shot less than 20 shots since cleaning the barrel so may be that the barrel is just settling in. I have shot a total of 58 shots so far so the barrel is probably not broken in. I can't wait to get my adjustable front rest. Using front and rear bags is a pain to get lined up and on target. I am going to dump the rear bag the next time I shoot. The temp was 88-90 and the humidity is high. Still, I did not have to pause between shots and the barrel did not heat up. All and all, I am pleased with what I am seeing thus far. Nothing like shooting the MLII. If any of you are on the fence about the Labradar, go ahead and jump if set up time matters to you. It takes me longer to set my bags up than the Labradar. Out of the 58 shots I have only failed to read 2 due to muzzle blast from the brake being too close.

Very nice shooting. The Parker Match Hunters have always shot very well for in the past. They were the most accurate bullet at 600 yards in all my tests. But the new Pittman Aeromax is a better bullet for hunting. the Parkers jackets are really to heavy for whitetail unless you hit shoulder bones they just blow right through. They would be a better bullet for really big game though.

Thanks Carl. I will keep that in mind this fall. Not much big game in Alabama, and most of our deer run small body wise compared to up north. If I hurt with the match hunters, I will be sure to take a shoulder shot. I accidentally shot a few shots into an old oak tree and it and it proved out what you are saying.
Your post have been helpful since you seem to be one of the few regularly shooting 209 primers. With the XTPs I was averaging around 2950 fps. using 95gr 3031 and consistently shooting under 1/2 moa. Are you seeing over 3000 fps using 95 grains and the 300 grain AccuMax or Aeromax. I've got the feeling that the Parkers would shoot better out of this gun if I slowed him down a bit.
Btw my gun has a 28 inch Brux Barrel, 1.25 for 10 inches tapered to one inch.

I really like what I'm seeing from 3031 and 300-325 grain bullets.

N-130 I believe is no longer produced but N-110 is. I believe one of our LGS's carries it? I know Herman just picked me up a pound of N-120 last week. Fortunately, I have 4 lbs of N-110 on hand and using only those small amounts, it should last for some time.

Thanks Kyle. I am waiting to get more comfortable before I start playing with your bullets.
I think you guys are correct about the n110. I have been able to find some at Cabela's in that is about it. It's 70 miles to the nearest one so I will have to pick some up when I am in the Huntsville area.
I have plenty of 3031, some n120, 4759 and 4198. Plenty to keep me occupied for now.
Hey Ruchard, what do you reccomend with the n120 using 300grain bullets.

Charles.........I shot 70 gr. of N-120 with a 300 gr. bullet and got a little over 2800 fps. If I have time tomorrow, I have some 71 gr. vials loaded and will give that a try. I am generally pretty happy with between 2800 and 2900 fps. If I was shooting at 600 or 1K, I might be interested in bumping it up but out to 400 (in Kentucky) and 300 at my home range, there is no need for more velocity (I don't think?)
