Dennis is really trying to produce a good bullet. He has seen that I have struggled with the present design and is working to modify it. He called me today and said he just got a batch of softer copper to work with and his jackets will start out much thinner. He is also going to shorten the bearing surface by .150". I asked if he could point them up to a much smaller meplat which he said he could but might need to increase the lead weight and remove the red plastic. He is sending me some with the modifications to test. Time will tell!

Why do you want to shorten the beating surface ?

I think Dennis's combination of the longer bearing surface along with the harder, thicker jacket material is causing more spring back than normal. Shortening the bearing surface some may help and that along with thinning and softening the jacket might be the answer. He sure is trying to get it right. This is a new area for his bullet making and is only learning the in's and out's of our game.

I get the thinner softer Jacket but didnt understand how shortening bearing surface would help . I get it now it will be less surface to spring back . I also assume a shorter bullet will stabilize easier ?
