Diagonal stringing . What will cause this . Im messing with some loads right now and i keep getting these strange groups they are not completly vertical or Horizontal its kind of in a diagonal pattern . I would post pictures but i suck at stuff like that . Im sure its probably something im doing im just not sure what ?

Can be tricky to diagnose? Usually gun handling or type of rest can contribute to vertical along with powder charge? If you have vertical and there is a particular horizontal wind condition.......it can make a vertical group into a diagonal group? Amount of shoulder contact can cause vertical along with some windage which can manifest itself as a diagonal group? In the benchrest game when you got vertical they always said: "More Powder?"

I had this issue when I switched from the lead sled to a front rest and rear bag. I went back to the lead sled and the problem went away. Don't know exactly what I was doing wrong. Could have been alignment or not handling the recoil properly.

I knew the load I was shooting was a good one and the only difference was the front rest and rear bag. I am one of the weird ones that shoots better groups from the lead sled but I will continue to try and improve with a front rest and rear bag. I haven't got to shoot since the spring challenge but my plan is to shoot with a front rest only and see if I get diagonal stringing with that setup and the same known load.

With my setup bullets and powder its about $3 bucks a shot . Just dont tell my wife ! WOW! $3X100! Cost per pound of venison is really going up! My high-end loads also cost $3 per shot, but they get used only when temps fall into the 60's, preferably 50's, which is what we usually have during early ML season.
