I didn't want to hijack jlankford4's post on the Apex barrels anymore than I did so ....
Another issue with the Apex 45-70 barrel, I can't pull back the hammer without slamming the action closed with a very hard snap. Something is preventing the action from closing up all the way, what area should I look at?
Also, this barrel's hinge pin hole takes a #2 pin from Bellm, the stock hinge pin has a lot of slop

With the stock hinge pin, same thing, the hammer will not cock back. I remember some posts on other boards where some installed new breech plugs but did not use a tool to snug the plug in, which is required on the first install, this caused the same issue I'm having. I'll check the breech end barrel fit to the frame, maybe this is the cause.

I have two Apex frames with two barrels for each one and a can put all four barrels on each frame and they fit perfectly. My .50 and .243 barrels fit good. I was very surprised when this 45-70 barrel would not close right. Oh well, if it shoots good, I will be happy.

Seems to be the breech end of the barrel, I squared it up some and now it closes without the harsh snap. The barrel shoots good with 45-70 Hornady 325gr LEVERevolution ammo. It should make for a good conversion barrel

It should make for a good conversion barrel I had one of my Barrels do that and I polished my locking lug and it fixed it. It wasn't completely squared and it would bind up my trigger if u didn't slam it shut. Does fine now though.
