This will be my new test gun. this gun is built for the sole purpose of shooting groups at 1,000 yards . The Gun is built on my modified Rem 700 ML action. It uses a SS 17-4 breech plug with a .030 bushing and a 209 primer. I only build 209 guns I have never seen a good enough reason to change.
The stock is a Bench rest style 3" wide laminate in Blue and Silver it does have a aluminum bedding block. I happen to pick this one up cheap at a match a few weeks ago. The barrel started life as a 29" 1.250" S/S blank from X-Caliber. it has a 1-18 twist. This is a .458 barrel it is a button rifle barrel and I have to say it looked flawless inside. I left the barrel 1.250 with no taper and made a MB to match. The scope is a Sightron 8x32x56 with a target dot. It is mounted onto a 20 MOA base which is glued and screwed to the action. The trigger will be a jewel 2 oz bench rest trigger.
I have not test fired the gun yet I hope to get a few rounds down range by the weekend. I will test for accuracy with IMR 4198 but I plan on going to IMR 3031 or 10X to get the velocity I want to get to 1K. I will also test the 325gr Pittman bullet and see how that one shoots.
I will post range results when I have some.

28" total length useable about 27 inches that is more than enough to burn the powders I will test.
