I've had one paid for since January when they went in stock by mistake on their website. When I pressed them on when they were due in, I was not too friendly, they decided to refund my money instead. They sent me a forearm last week with no barrel. They said to keep the forearm with no charge. Fine by be, I consider it interest paid for hanging onto my money for so long. Why they didn't know when the barrels would be made is a mystery to me.
It's about time, I sure hope they are good barrels and not junk rushed into production.

I called em last week an they said they would have em in this week unless customs held em an then it would be 6 months or so. But they called me today. They also said this would be the last of the apex barrels so if ya need one still better hurry.

Any suggestions on getting black stains off this stainless barrel? Out of the box it has got something on the muzzle end and settled in the flutes. I'm guessing it's some kind of grease or oil they used at the factory. But it won't wipe off. I soaked it in R.E.M. Oil for a couple hours and tried to brush it off and that faded it some but it's still there. Used some powder blaster and that didn't work. Didn't wanna use something that would discolor the whole barrel. And I definantly don't wanna ship it back. lol I'll live with it before I do that lol

I would use lacquer thinner or acetone. It will definitely not hurt your barrel or discolor it whatsoever! I wipe stuff of SS barrels all the time. Marine-tex black bedding epoxy? comes right off!

I tried removing the stains also, I think the only way to do it is with a bead blaster. The muzzle crown is almost nonexistent. The chamber area will be threaded for a breech plug so not really an issue but it sure does look ugly. I'm going to run a few factory 45-70 rounds through it and see how it does. I think it would be interesting to see how a factory round compares to a smokeless sabotless round out of the same barrel.

Doesn't look like they crowned that barrel at all, sure doesn't look like mine. Hope you get things straightened out and it shoots well for you.

I would highly recommend getting a tube of Flitz to fix the streaks on the barrel. I have used it for years on surface imperfections/rust and even removed micro scratches on my stainless 22/45 from holster wear. I just used it on my grandpa's old Savage 24 that has seen little care over the years. It cleaned the rust up nicely as expected and it also doesn't damage the blueing. It doesn't do much for rust that is to the point where the steel is pitted but anything up to that point it will take care of. Just smear some on with your fingers and use a clean cloth the polish the metal. Clean off and repeat if necessary. Works well on stainless also. There may be a better option out there that I haven't heard of but if there is a better option I definitely want some because I know how well Flitz has worked for me.
If Flitz won't do the job blasting would be necessary, or some kind of chemical to remove the marks. Just my thoughts anyway. Hope you are able to get it cleaned up to your specifications. Good luck!

Get a HIS conversion installed, bead blast, crown the barrel and you should be good to go. Seems like these conversions shoot pretty good and make fine woods guns.

I use the metal polish as well as the wax. One puzzling experience happened with the wax. Some type of weird stain had gotten on a stainless barrel and acetone would not take it off. I decided to go ahead and wax it anyway and the Flitz wax removed the stain while I was rubbing it in. Would it help the stains on the Apex barrels? Hard to say....it would depend on the type of stain.
