Big thanks to RICHARD for the pages of advice and work he did in building my muzzleloader. We have been talking for months and everything came together like a charm.
Since i I had a couple of Savage MLII I started off planning to convert one but ultimately decided to build on a 700ml action. I did this mainly because I wanted a Jewell trigger and did not like the Savage trigger options.
I have nt not had much time to shoot but the gun shows signs of being a pretty good shooter.
It it has a 28 inch 1:18 twist Brux barrel. I have been shooting 300 grain XTPs and 90 to 95gr of 3031. The velocity has been from mid 2800s to 2950 or so.
I have not yet tried to put any serious groups up. Just breaking in the barrel and trying to get a feel for things i. e. full forming bullets, loading and shooting the gun. Hopefully by next weekend I will be able to shoot some decent groups.
Thanks again Richard.
Charles
Btw, I will add some pictures when I figure out how to reduce the file size.
