Nice, what reticle did you go with? Next sale I will have to take the plunge and get a BDC version for my hunting gun.

Looks like a nice rig! The scope looks good to me. I'll be sure to check it out at the Kentucky Challenge in August.

Looks great. I like the scope. Like AJ said, I typically use a BDC rather that turning knobs. Around here, the deer don't give you a lot of time for tinkering.

the welding is not so good but hey, it's a hunting rig, I just hope it's deadly accurate, my fingers are crossed.

I would have no problem with the looks of that welding job. Eliminating those 'pesky' scope holes is more than worth it. There's not alot of room between the barrel and the end of the scope tho.

Actually Steve there is close to 1/4", it's an optical illusion, the gun is rolled somewaht making it appear that way

Great looking Gun Bill. Right smart Idea of siphoning water through the barrel while welding. Does away with the fear of heat stressing anything. Drop

Sounds like a moonshiner trick crossed over to barrel welding.

Might be passed down through the gene pool I guess, 100 years ago there was plenty of shine in my neck of the woods.

it's bore sighted and ready to fire the scope is bright and clear, turrets are very tactile and are easily heard, the biggest thing I noticed when I first picked it up is the eye relief, mucho! I clamped it down and spun it up a good ways while on the bull it moved with every click and returned to the bull when zeroed out. the reticle will be a nice reticle for hunting, a little heavy for target work but this is a hunting scope. Great looking setup there! Trevor TRACT Optics www.tractoptics.com

well it rained most of the day but late this evening I got to burn some powder in PITA the 240 CEBs are just too small for my bore, even knurled they are still too loose, they were hitting the target sideways so no I didn't get to test the scope but it did go bang. one thing for sure, loose or not with DI it goes bang every time.
load was 80 grns of Varget and no wad for an avg of 2860
Tonight I sized some 325 Rockey Mtn full formed, they were .416s but surprisingly they sized pretty good as long as I made three passes. I'm about to run some numbers on QL so if my shoulder can stand it I will put the scope to a true torture test. tomorrow if the rain holds out.

sized up several 325 .416 Rockey Mtn MH and weighed out some 60 grn loads of IMR 3031. I got an avg of 2456 and recoil was tolerable, group wasn't great but not bad either. weighed out 65 grns and got 2515 avg.
I think this rig would be ideal with a good 300 grain bullet @ 2800 or so, just waiting on the bullet.

Update:
I took the Apex out again this morning and fired 19 rounds, yes my shoulder is complaining a little my last 7 shot group would have been good but I pulled the last shot. the last 6 were .708 which I am happy with, the scope is still doing great even with some hefty recoil. powder, bullet and specifics yet to be disclosed but I will tell you it will make one heck of a large game load, can't wait to try it on ole Bambi.

I just ordered one of those barrels too. Looks like a lethal combination.
