I just ordered some digital camo stencil and at the moment I'm only going to work with my stock. However I'm also thinking of doing the scope also but I have a question. Has anyone spray painted a scope and what/how was the out come? I was thinking if you got the paint down in the area where the scope adjusts power it would be bad news. More than likely I won't paint the scope bit curious if anyone has painted the scope and if they regretted it?
Thanks

You can paint the scope.. Just mask off all areas you don't want to get the paint into. Cover the lenses really well also but don't let the tape adhesive touch the glass.. Was up some tissue paper and place this on the lenses before masking them off. Here is a rifle I painted with duracoat.. It's my personal deer hunting woods rifle chambered in 308.. I built this gun to be light weight and short.. I love this little gun and its a pretty good shooter as well.. Notice the scope where I masked off the power zoom ring and the lettering on the scope. I used masking tape on the power ring and lenses.. On the lettering on the side of the scope I simply covered it with grease. This can be wiped off when your done and it gives you a kinda weathered look at the paint edge instead of a solid break like a piece of tape will give.. Either way works fine but I wanted it to look this way... So I gave it a try... Just be careful with the grease and put it only where you want it and don't smear it... Jeff..

I have only used Bow Flage removable paint on optics (and whole guns) but did it like Jeff described. If I do camouflage I like it on the stock only and use a solid metal color that fits with the stock.

Digital can look good. What colors are you going to use?

Let me know how it turns out.. I did one once and I wasn't crazy about it when I got it done..
Pictures would be nice of the finished product..

Haven't completely decided on color figured I'd make a run to Menard's or Lowes look threw what they have and make a decision then. Once I get the stencil I'll do a start to finish product hopefully.
Hank I hope it turns out. I have watched some YouTube videos and I can see how it might be a pain to get it to turn out great. Been thinking about how I'll do it all night.

Also once I do the stock I plan on doing some deer skulls that I have had plans for, for a while along with the antelope I shot with Zen.

My biggest problem was getting all the squares on the stock in line with each other, if you get them (cocked) it really shows up when you remove the stencil but you don't know fore sure until you're done. Just a little something to be thinking about when applying them..

I always make a practice run on a 2x4 before doing it "live".

Chad... I know your stock is the Boyds black thumbhole..What base color are you going with?...I found the factory black paint job on that stock not to be very durable, easily smudged when handling...I know that you're going to end up with a fine looking setup Zen

Not sure on base color figured I'd go to Lowes or Menard's to look through what they have and make decision then.

Do you think deer and speed goats are into PIXELS?................. Good luck with your playing Chad! I can't help thinking how simple it is to just use the pattern supplied naturally) with a laminate stock! Richard

I was given some Sitka hunting clothes and hoping I can get it to match. I like being different also. Something for me to mess around with, .

So I tried the digital camo stencil and like Jeff I didn't like the out come. Well I like the base color bit didn't want to be exactly like Zen so I added a decal and not sure how I like it. So I thought I'd ask and see what you guys thought about this on my right is it, stupid or is it neat? Not sure I like it.

I guess no comments mean it's not cool. No worries I'll start over.

Well with no comments figured most people thought it was b stupid so I ended up doing this and clear coating it. Going to let it dry and cure for over a week before I put it back together. Next year I'll try to do something different. Stone look
