I was trying some BH209 in my knight disk rifle. The first shot went off fine. The second shot didn't go so well. The second shot was a hang fire and recoil was crazy after it finally went off. I am still using the disk with a 209 primer. Do I need a conversion breech plug ? Or is there something else out there I can try? I have had muzzleloaders for 25+ years. I have not really tried many different powders or loads.Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

The bare primer breech plug is a better setup for bh209. Which primer are you using? How is the fit of your bullet and sabot?

I use Winchester 209 primers. The sabot and bullets go down with one hand pressure

The primer is fine. I have shot a lot of BH209 in a Knight with the Winchesters but only in the bare primer breech plug. Are you getting much blow back in the breech? If yes you may be loosing enough pressure and fire to properly ignite BH209 with the 209 disc. I like a good really firm one hand loading pressure with BH209 and a good solid last push when the sabot contacts the powder. If your one loading pressure is very easy that is likely your problem.
I would change over to the bare primer breech plug and not look back. It will be cleaner and more reliable.

I had the same problem. went with the lehigh bare primer conversion, no more problems, no blow back, very clean ! I also use cci 209m or federal 209a primers..

Is this a DISC or DISC Extreme or Elite? The Original DISC uses a different bolt, breach plug and FPJ than the newer DISC models. To convert a older DISC to bare primer you also need a Extreme type bolt assembly.

It is a disc rifle not an extreme or an elite. Thanks for all the info.

I missed a Big Buck because of a misfire in my Knight Master Hunter using the red disc system. I switched too bare primer ignition and the problem went away, I will buy one for my Master Hunter as I did for the Mountaineer but have yet to shoot it Jeff's new plug will last longer than I will be here LOL
