I bought a new Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor a few days ago and mounted a Vortex 4 to 12 power scope on it. I also picked up a few boxes of Hornady superformance 129gr sst ammo. I will be ringing it out soon and followup with a range report.

Interested in how it performs. I read allot of good reviews about the ruger American even though it isn't a custom built rifle. I almost got one myself still might!! Waiting patiently for results!!

I've heard good things. It's pretty much the RPR action with a lighter barrel and no chassis and the RPR is legit.

Got one in .204R last year. Didn't choot fer chit. Ruger replaced the barrel, but it didn't shoot much better with factory ammo. After getting dies and quite a bit of fine tuning, it's getting 5/8" groups. Also replaced the tupperware.

Bought one a year or so ago in 308. I was very UN-impressed even with hand loads. At that point I decided to just buy quality barrels and build my own rifles on Savage actions. So far I have been blessed.

Set up my bench yesterday and wrung out the 6.5 Creed. After adjusting the trigger and sighting it in I wound up with a half inch four shot group with the Hornady factory fodder and called it good . I'm happy! My 308 American will do the same or better with my handloads so I guess I'm lucky.

Good deal YR. Sounds like yours is a decent shooter with good upside potential for handloads. You gonna be putting the hammer on some of those big ole Maine Yotes with it?

I'll pop a few Yotes if I get the chance but I think I might use it for deer too. I prefer larger calibers for deer season here but I figure a neck shot should do the trick.

I should have mentioned that a fired a total of seven shots three to sight it in and four for the group @ 100yrds. The first three in the group were all overlapped and the fourth was outside a bit so the rifle is very accurate in my book.

I was so close to buying a Ruger American Predator 223 for $299 but elected for the Remington 700 243 sps varmint and really only shot around 100 rounds through it since January 2015. I'd been okay with the predator and could have spent the extra money else where. still might get one for my boy though.

If you can buy a new Ruger American Predator for $299 that's a steal! My local gun shop had a sticker of 500 plus but they took an old M70 push feed action I had in on trade and I walked out with the rifle and a box of ammo for a lil over $300.
