I have a friend here with a bad bull and I know he runs about 140gr of a slower powder with a 275gr parker BE. That was the only recommended load at the time as I understand it. I may well be incorrect on this and things may have changed. I do not remember his velocity but I think it was around 3,000. Apparently it is very possible to run slower powders in our .45s
I did get to see part of his breech plug the other day and from what I saw it was a bit complicated. Perhaps too complicated but it works. I hope to spend some time with him after the crops are in and take a closer look at the system.

I had a bad bull and had no problem igniting 140 grains of IMR 4350 with a 275 BE. Velocity was 3115fps. Two piece breach was getting gas cutting pretty bad. I hope your buddy is having better luck than I did.

If he has the two part breach plug. It's where the two piece meet, the orfice. Let me see if I can find some pictures and I will post it. Mine had such issue that it froze my breach plug inside barrel. He put a new barrel on it for me and apparently I wasn't the only person to have issues.

His is a 2 part plug. I only got to see one of the two parts so I was not 100% sure what we were dealing with. I think the part he had was the rear half?
