On my drive home from the Mammoth Sniper Challenge I picked up my 6.5 Creed barreled action. It's a Rem 700 that was fluted and knob installed by Adams Custom Rifles. The barrel is a Krieger Med Palma crowned at 26" plus Harrell's break. I used a Manson reamer, at the recommendation of Dave Tooley, with a .170 freebore. When I got it home I cleaned the barrel, installed the Seekins base, then installed and adjusted the Calvin Elite before pulling the gun that shot Mammoth out of the T6A and dropping this sucker in:

Haven't shot it yet. Waiting on PT&G to ship an extractor for its twin.

The 6.5's have caught on so well due to the variety and quality of bullets now available. When I started shooting my 6.5 x .284 improved (Super) back around 2001, the only brass available was Winchester then shortly thereafter, Norma and then Lapua came out with brass and the 6.5 took off. All the bullet companies now have quality offerings; back then I was shooting custom bullets out of Clinch River Tenn. The Creedmore is a nice cartridge and fits the AR-10 format. Very nice rifle Keith!

We finally had a dry week here so a buddy and I headed to the range to work pistols for a gunfighter league match in a couple weeks. I dragged the Creed along in case the LGS had ammo since I haven't had time to load any. I bought one box of Hornady 120gn A-MAX and one box of Winchester Match 140gn. Hornady shot like garbage (1.5 MoA every group, 5 shots, 3 groups) but allowed me to get a rough zero since I swapped the scope over from my .308 Win. I shot one group at 300yds to get a feel for wind and it was the best group (fluke?) for the 120gn at .8MoA : Had a bit of breeze: avg of 11.8mph, gusts to 17.2mph, .5 value Worked left to right when I swapped to Winchester and after the first group it settled down pretty good. My buddy wanted to shoot it and called the round out of group on the far right when he broke his 3rd shot: I'm liking it so far. Recoil is like a .223

I really like the 6.5s, I have only tried the 140 bergers in mine so far (.260 AI). As you said the recoil is nothing. Nice looking set up. What type of rings are you using?

This is my second 6.5: the other was a Kimber 84M .260 Rem the first year they came out. Odd you have the AI because I had considered doing another 7mm-08 Remington Improved 40°. I just hate fire-forming brass as much as I shoot. I'm excited to see how it does. In a way it doesn't do me much good if I'm shooting for points because this year their is a Tactical division in PRS and I can't compete with a 6.5 rifle in that class. I'll probably just shoot it for matches where I can't earn points.
I have been debating on what bullet to shoot. I have 500 Sierra 123gn SMK I got on a half off certificate won at a match. They look pretty good for numbers against everything but the 130gn Berger and JLK. I just shot the factory stuff to get zeroed up and get about 50 rounds down the tube to let the throat clean up a little. I'm about to clean it down to bare metal and coat these bullets with hBN so I can get the load development under way.
Those rings are the discontinued Seekins .920" 6/4 rings.

The Berger AR Hybrid 130's shoot good in my 260, you might want to check them out.

That's what I'm looking at after I burn up this box of 500 Sierra bullets. I say that, depends on how they shoot tho because their is not a big enough difference when you can get Sierra bullets cheaply and pay an arm and a leg for Berger. The Jug looked real good until the 175gn TMK and the 180gn 7mm looked good until the new 175gn SMK came out. The new 183gn looks even better. Sierra had been forced to up their game some and they have come out with good stiff this year. May give the 6.5 TMK a shot.
