WOW really glad you’re ok! God was definitely watching over you. Thanks for sharing and for the the reminder of how important it is to mark your ramrod and to always check before firing.

Ralph, it's so much more real when one actually knows the person who suffered the "incident". I'm so happy with you for your fortune in not being seriously injured. You can certainly say "you dodged a bullet", actually two... and all the rest of the gun's parts turned to deadly shrapnel. I hope your lovely wife gets over this and allows you both to continue coming up to the Kentucky Challenge shoots. haha Seriously, very glad to know you weren't physically damaged.

As one that has blow up a gun in the past and fortunate enough to still have all my moving parts I can tell you this
I doubt you will ever make that mistake again, it brings a new reality to just how easy it is to make such a disaster happen
Thanks for being transparent enough to remind us it can happen to anyone
All the more reason that these guns are not for the masses, only the diligent need to own one

I’m not sure how he did get hurt but if you look at the rifle barrel the only thing that stayed together was the break. The break kept the barrel from splitting back into shooters face. I’m going to say that he get a huge BREAK from a major disaster. The scope base helped out too…

The scope base helped out too… JMO I think the flutes made into these barrels are the weak point, as most know there is less metal, not only these CVA's but like my bolt gun, my barrel band moved forward and wedged just as the brake held the barrel togther at the end instead of splitting to the end with the barrel blowing apart. Years ago a man here shot a 50 cal ML no brake on a bolt type gun, no barrel band for the ram rod , double loaded and it opended up like an umbrella , everything blew out the end anyway, we look at it its a major disaster, ,Hope it never happens again with the coming ML season around the corner with more ML activity WE all need to be on top of Double checking to help prevent DOUBLE loading,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
