Hello all, new member here. Just recently picked up a new to me Savage 10 ML2 pre acutrigger, sight unseen for the most part. It has the older style prog breach plug. I pulled the BP and confirmed it was clear and that the barrel was not rotted out. Shot some BH209 the other day just to function test it, and that was a success. So now that I proved that it functions, Id like to start doing some upgrades to it. Im not exactly sure what to search for, but I assure you i tried, so forgive me if this has been asked before.. If I wanted to install the HIS BP with the carbide insert, what would I need or how would I go about using LRP's? As of now, the gun is set up to accept 209's on the bolt face. I have to assume there is some kind of adapter/module that is out there to fit the bolt..If so, what is it called, or where can I find it? I see his DI and I think I'd like to avoid having to screw something into the breach each shot. I searched around Jeff's webpage, but nothing jumped out at me as being what I might possibly need.. All replies welcomed. Look forward to picking your brains and gathering information.

I got this prbullet.com/s-kit.htm but it came with the old type vent liners. I had a gun smith machine the plug to accept a tungsten-carbide liner and threading for a lock ring. Blow back around the primer insert was bad but a very small O-ring pushed into the BP totally stopped all carbon leakage. This requires readjusting head space, but any change of a breech plug will probably require the same.

First, welcome to the forum. There is a ton of info here, and you'll likely get a lot of help with this. To your question: here's a direct link to Hankins Custom Gun Parts with options for breech plugs. There are several options for Savage replacement plugs. Hope this helps! hanksprecisiongunparts.com/c/hankins-ignition-systemsgd

I saw the Savage Repair Plug for HIS Ignition Module that Hank's offers and it requires a gunsmith to set head spacing. Does it use the Savage 10ml2 bolt nose or is there a different bolt or bolt nose required

So if what Im seeing is correct, the vari flame adapters/modules are the same size as a 209 primer, which would then slide into the factory savage bolt face? Im curious to how well the two would seal together, Hanks BP and the vari flame modules.?? Ever tried it or know anyone who has? Success? Fail?

Since the breech plug is headspaced for a 209 primer, you shouldn't have any issue with the primer and module sealing. I haven't used this particular set up with an ML2. I'll ask a couple friends who have ML2s.

The stainless variflame 11 is designed for large rifle primers and will not fit a 209 primer pocket. The original brass variflame modules that used a small pistol or rifle primers will.
