I have had a few people ask me about doing a summer shoot and I agreed. I would be happy to host a nother shoot in the summer. This shoot will be the weekend of June 16-17th. Any one interested in attending this shoot please let me know and I will post your name here.
1. Jeff Hankins 2. Mark Clemons 3. Toby Osner 4. Steve Blankenship 5. Dennis Walkley (maybe) 6. Mike McCellan 7 Gary Smith
Looks like we will have a small turnout for this shoot. On the bright side everyone will have their own bench. The range will open at 1:00 pm on friday for open shooting and will close at 5:00 sharp. Anyone needing or wanting to shoot on friday please arrive during those times. Saturday mornings breakfast will be served at 8:00 am and lunch will be fixed after the match, or around 1:00.
All food will be provided by Hankins Custom Rifles, LLC/ Hank's Precision Gun Parts.
I am going to have to bow out of this one. I don't think I can tolerate the long car ride this soon after the surgery. Everyone have great time shoot small and eat well. Be safe, will see you in August.
A good time was had by all. Beautiful weather and light breezes made for good shooting conditions (I forgot my mirage-eliminating glasses at home...). Not to mention the always delicious meals prepared by Chef Jeff. And, as usual, I learned some more good information, shared by fellow shooters (Mark-buckeye68 and others), to help with my shooting abilities. Gary-caseless worked hard to complete another improvement project that will provide the Kentucky Challenge shooting facility to be even more comfortable in cold, rainy and windy weather conditions. And a big thank-you to Hankins Precision Rifles and Toby-shindig for providing our meals. We missed the company and fellowship of the many that have attended past shoots and we especially missed the friendliness, humor, good-nature and experienced skilled shooting of Dennis....not to mention the delicious venison-jerky Dennis has shared with us. If you haven't attended a Kentucky Challenge event, you should give strong consideration to taking part. The best way to meet like-minded shooters, view beautiful state-of-the-art smokeless muzzleloaders (rifle porn), learn valuable shooting information, learn your gun's capability and display your trigger-pulling skills in friendly competition against other enthusiasts. While I did leave a rifle with Jeff to work on, I managed to get out of Kentucky and fight off my desire to buy a new Hankins Precision Rifle. Hi, my name is Mike and I have a rifle buying problem... haha
It was definitely a great time as always. It is really a great facility for friendly competition and I hope more people will take advantage of this great range. Thanks Jeff for supplying this great facility.
Sounds like it was a good time. Mike you too gracious, I don't consider myself an accomplished shooter, you are correct in that attending these matches and conversing with informed ppl has improved my shooting ability. I agree that these events would be beneficial to all comers.
