Any updates that can be shared by those testing Hanks small rifle primer modules? Just curious if it would be a thing we see or not.

I tested my .40 extensively with direct -normal HIS and small rifle HIS under controlled and verified conditions for 2 days. Still need to do the .45 test -hopefully this week. Jeff has the results and awaiting his decision like everyone else.

Hopefully he’ll post something soon? I’m guessing, rightfully so, that none of you can talk about your individual experiences?

I also tested them , I would definitely use them . You loose very little velocity.

I noticed last night when I was ordering a few things for some upcoming builds that Jeff has the small pocket modules up for sale on his site. He’s got a little information there on the testing. Looks like the consensus is the accuracy is just as good as LRMP, you just lose 30-50 fps depending on bullet and load used.

Jeff indicated that he was the one who would make the call period!

My experience was that the SRP's work very well. I did find that the velocity was about 30 fps slower than the large primers. Duplexing also produced even better results. Of the small primers I tried, the Fiocchi SRP's were the hottest. Yes, hotter than the CCI 450m's. I also think the SRP would be the ticket in the Direct Ignition System. I also found accuracy to not be compromised by the small primers.

I saw the HIS modules...would like to see the DIS as well. I was sworn to secrecy and have still kept that status………… I did Direct (large rifle) HiS large rifle magnum and HIS small rifle magnum - all side by side on the .40. Was planning on testing in 2 days on the .45 and sending in the results…….. From the info given (if it’s true) am I wasting my time sending the info in. And like Richard said - What’s Up ? I’ll share it all -Still waiting………..

From the beans spilt so far this especially sounds intetesting for a 40 !!! That DI version just May open up some extra tuneability...really SRPs in general could influence things quite a bit . I already know for bh209 with a custom bp i made using a discontinued Mag-spark SRP conversion it was Awesome . A smokers DI if you will in my 410 White ..slam fire and all . HANK Open the Flood Gates !!!

My results for testing ignition systems direct/HIS large rifle/HIS small rifle WLRM (Winchester large rifle magnum) WLR (Winchester large rifle) SRM (small rifle magnum cci 450)
.40 cal w RL15 and 275 fury’s Direct WLRM 3280 fps Direct WLR minus 3250 = loss 30 fps HIS WLRM minus 3180 = loss 70 fps HIS SRM. minus. 3110. = loss 70 fps
The speed changed 170 fps from the king (direct using WLRM) to the bishop (HIS using SRM ) primers. HIS WLRM primers were 70 fps faster than the SRM modules- so almost even jumps in speeds for the 3 ignition systems. The next day I Increased the powder 3.5 grains and the speed gap between the WLRM and SRM primers was erased. Deviation was single digit and accuracy was really good.
.45 cal w H4198 and 300 Hornadys HIS WLRM primers 3057 fps HIS SRM primers 3015 fps. 42 fps loss
I could add 2 grains of powder and the speeds would be the same using the SRM primers. I haven’t done it yet - but it’s almost a sure thing.
In conclusion: I popped all the primers and reseated with new and everything was tight on the new Small RIfle modules. I would and will use these if we remain in a short supply of large rifle and large rifle magnum primers. I wound recommend SRM (cci 450) or (cci 41) primers as they are rated for high cup pressures than normal small rifle primers.
Per Hankins website - speed losses of 30-70 fps are to be expected (compared to the large rifle modules) and my testing is very close to his advertisement. I did not test the direct ignition with the .45 but expect a significant jump in speed so I would recommend you reduce your powder 5-7 grains based from testing I did a few years back. Cheers

I saw the HIS modules...would like to see the DIS as well. There will not be any DIS modules made for the small rifle primers.
