Bill, I will be interested in seeing the outcome of your 442/450 rifle.👍 Me too It's a really good barrel BUT it's a 16 twist which is too fast or at least so in my mind, we shall see what it does at the longer range targets. At 100 it shoots bug holes and seemed to shoot ok when I was shooting with Steve in Ohio? time will tell.
It takes 4 less grains of powder to reach the same speeds as the .458 bore with the same powder and bullet.

I have the same diameter barrel on a Savage MLII. I have never shot it since I got it over 5 years ago. Interested in seeing what yours does. The guy that sold it to me did so because he could never find the right accurate combo for this particular barrel.

Helpful hint: Verify that your primer is flat and seated flush to the module. Do this by setting it upside down on something flat. If there’s any wobble - reseat it deeper. A primer that is sticking up can make the bolt harder to close. Easy to close and hard to close can mean differences in impacts from shot to shot. This also happens on centerfire cartridges and it will do the same on your muzzy. Consistency. When I'm seating primers with my RCBS hand primer, either DI modules or brass, I will seat the primer then turn the module or brass about half a turn in the shell holder and seat again. Turn a half turn and seat again. A habit, I got into a long time when loading centerfire brass.
