Good morning, first post!
I have a great scoped Remington UML that I have used in NM for elk. NM just banned scopes on MLs and I don't want to be tearing this gun apart and putting it back together if/when I draw another elk tag in NM. I'm considering going the Hankins converted CVA Scout V2 45-70 route with Williams Western Precision ML sight, shooting BH 209 and Pittman 300 gr. bullets. I currently shoot 110 gr. by weight BH 209 and Pittman 300 gr bullets in my UML. I wanted to ask if others are shooting BH 209 in the CVA Scout V2 and if so, what weight powder charge are you using?
Any thoughts on my planned open sight choice would also be appreciated.
Thanks!
SF

one of the other members here, "ballistic", I believe, posted photos of his very precise and robust open-sight system he uses for elk hunting, he also is an extremely experienced and knowledgeable shooter that has shared a lot of good information, you may want to look him up and pm

You will see the sight system that shot really well out to 460 yards - has several 1” groups at 100 yards with it. Took a decent bull elk at 180 yards with it. You can see the KNS crosshair front peep and the 600 meter rear sight in the pics. You can PM me with questions.
