I know this has probably been ask. For hunting has anyone have experience with loads and velocities on a 22” 45 cal barrel? Thanks

Using the same DI system and blued/blk scout with the same 4227 powder charge and same 275gr weight bullets, my 25" barred rifle and buckeye68's 17" barreled rifle shoot within 10-15fps mv of each other. I believe the speed may vary more with slower powders, you would have to test this out. This a question that Quick Load (QL) would help answer. QL calculates %age of powder burn. One of the inputs involves barrel length. Once powder burn is appx 100 % or near, longer barrel length would be of negliable help or even slow the bullet - classic example is the 26” barrel of the CZ 22LR target model. Fastest speed of most HV 22 LR cartridges is obtained with barrel lengths of 18-18 1/2” if I remember correctly. Then the bullet starts to slow down. Yes, the speed will significantly vary with slower powders. In reality, the pressure slope of the powder burn will be the actual determinate.
