i have been using nosler 180 accubonds for the last few years with great success. it appears they are impossible to find right now. Anyone have a recommendation for a good hunting bullet that will hold up on elk? I was avg just over 1/2" groups with the accubonds, and they hold up well on big game. Recovered 1 bullet and it was 128 grains
thanks

I wouldn't count out Barnes tsx 175gr. I think Midway has them.

I am not a elk expert but have killed 5 with rifle. First 6x6 bull about 250 yards 338-win mag with Barnes TSX 185gr handloads @ 2700fps (1/2 MOA) behind shoulder in and out other side DRT. 2nd was a cow at 490 yards quartering away hit her about 4 rib back bullet when out offside shoulder walked about 25 yards. 3dr elk was a 5x6 smaller bull than first at like 300 yards broadside using a 300 Win mag with 180gr Winchester factory soft points had to shoot it 3 times behind shoulder and it ran probably 150 yards fell down still alive had to finish it when I walked up to it. (Every bullet came apart in chest area) I hike a lot and I'm 63 stopped carrying Rem 700 in 338 because of weight. I have a Browning A-bolt now in 7mm WSM (Very light) Hand load Barnes 150 gr TTSX will shoot 1/2MOA. Killed a 5x5 bull and a cow at 380 yards on last trip 1st shot in bull left shoulder he turned, and 2nd shot was in right shoulder DRT. Cow didn't know what happen I shot her quartering away behind right shoulder she walked about 40 yards and when down. All bullets when completely thru except one in the Bull found under hide offside and perfect mushroom 4 pedals folded back. I deer hunt here at home with a 338 federal have killed probably 15 plus whitetail and 2 Black bear with the 185gr TSX always DRT.. and very accurate in all my guns (Tikka, Browning, Remington, Springfield 1903 sporter) Can't say enough good stuff about them. Will be heading to Colorado in 2 weeks with 7mm WSM and Bull, Cow, and Mule deer Buck tag plus Barnes Handloads.
