Went scouting for some ducks yesterday morning on an area state Wildlife Management Area. Decided to grab a rod and reel and some tackle to pass the time. Well it turned into one of the best pike fishing outings of my life. Considering I’ve been willing to travel over 300 miles to fish pike that’s no small feat. In past years beaver trapping the area I knew pike to be in the water shed but never in my wildest dreams did I ever think it would be this good. I it started with me being pretty frustrated due to the first 10 fish I had bite get off. By the end of 3 hours I had landed 15 fish only 1 under 30” and 3 40” or over I had two inhale the bait and didn’t think they would live so the got a ride home. I have hunted deer and waterfowl here for over 30years and never knew the treasures I was overlooking under the water. Sorry for lack of pictures I left phone in the vehicle I didn’t want that disturbing a peaceful morning.

Very cool! Always loved fishing for pike. Never had a day that good though... Sounds like you've found a great spot!

beautiful fish! I've never ate Pike, are they any good? My second favorite fish to eat. They are a little tricky to learn how to make boneless. My favorite is skin on boneless bluegill. Walleye “gravel carp” and crappies are lower on my list. Jeff if you ever make it to Minnesota I’ll take you to catch some. If I ever make it back to a challenge I’ll bring you some.

Sounds good to me. I might just have to plan a trip up there to catch a few of them. We don’t have pike in Kentucky. A few Musky, but I don’t fish for them.

When we've had pike side by side with walleye, everyone prefers the pike. Its really good eating fish. Hank, if you get the chance to get after them, they're a blast to catch too.
