All i have ever shot were caplocks. I got my .50 cal Woodsman Hawken in yesterday. Traditions is not top line but it will work. Unboxed it only couple small minor cosmetic blems. No flint nor leather to install on cocking hammer. Speck they all come like that unless a custom build or used. I have new flint n jaw leather to install. I have couple dz. rbs .490 dia. have 125 REAL 320 gr bullets. Have 40 sabots with .451 350 gr bullets to try also. Its really too hot to go out to rifle range at this time

Shooting range in the morning. Have round balls, Pa. conicals, 15 Buffalo 385 gr bullets, i have 25 HBblk short pedal sabots n 250 gr Fury bullets. Seems the Hoarders have bought up all the Eng. blk flints n the Amber flints. Scalpers n just stupid people have done this. Very little blk powder to be had because of them. Poopy pants n his socialist party have struck again

I went i was beaten into submission n so on. What a learning curve this morning ! I woke up at 3:59 am put my coffee pot on. Got car trunk loaded. Thought i did, forgot my .44 Colt, Uberti replica. Turned alarm off woke my Mrs. whom insisted she was going just to bother me n sleep n complain. I had planned on being there at 6 am. With her i did not leave driveway til 6:07 ! Story of my life dealing with women! My puggle, Josey pie decided my target made a great bed to lay on. I finally got there at 7:08 45 mile drive. I unload tote 5 loads by hand to shooting benches. Was not disabled nor handicapped friendly at all. My target was torn loose from the top. I got it to hold, ground was so hard i broke my 2x6 15" into. Got it to stand, i get loaded with my T/C Blk. Diamond .50 cal. I shoot touch high 3" to the right at 50 yard distance. Target flops to ground. I go beat on legs again had forgot my 2 lb maul. Shot 2nd shot, hit 1" under 1st shot, 60 gr trip 7 3f. Target flops to ground, i finally get it beat down enough to stand again. I move scope windage 16 clicks left to center shot. I shoot it hits low but center, target flops down again. I am frustrated, Mrs calls me she is getting too hot at 68 degrees. I pack up load the car n drive home. Learning curve yes, i wish my Mrs. would stay home n let me enjoy my last years God is letting me have. I did not even load either my flintlock nor 45 Hawken. Temps show no low 60 rest of this month. So i will wait n watch Aug. I will build me a small wooden target frame

Sounds like you had a awesome day. Much better than being at work. Not sure how but you must be the man to get your wife up early and go the the range with you. You had to buy her a Coach purse or something. You need to please tell us how you did the impossible today!

Dear Lord my brother hearest thee the words of wisdom, According to the scriptures held most high, the prophets sayeth thall shalt devise a way to traverse lo these many miles to thine shooting range within the following commandments: -When a true believer endeavors to traverse a long and arduous journey from whence he lives to his place of respite thou must forsake all others held most dear - up to and including thine spouse in this endeavor. -Thou shalt not be encumbered with the cares or restraints that this world doth encumber thine existence with. Shall another attempt to restrain thine path to righteousness thou shalt soldier on agaist all adversity with most wreckless abandon. -Thou must maintain thy vigilance on thine spiritual endeavor against all adversaries of thy soul. -All efforts in vain of such constraints shall be met with vile results, even unto thy death. It ain't exactly the ten commandments, but it should get you out of hauling along the ball and chain. LOL (with any luck)

Whew, not go there on the weekend anymore, a madhouse ! I got my Blk, Dia. dead on at 25 yds. So it will start getting loads worked up at 100 yds. I got my .45 cal Rock Sparker on target, had 2 flash in the pan before i got 1st shot to fire. Then 2 more flash in the pan n then it fired. Both cut each other using my .440 patched round balls

I got my Scout kit almost finished n took it this morning along with my Traditions Woodsman Hawken. I found out i did not get double trigger in right. My set trigger would not set, i did get the front trigger to fire on its own the 1st shot. Hit 1/2" low right corner of target dot at 10 yards getting it on paper. I could not get it to fire on the second shot attempt. Not happy with that. I got out my 50 cal Woodsman Hawken, shooting PRB n 60 gr 3 F Goex. I shot twice which were 1/2" center to center at 10 yards getting on paper. So i have 4 of the 5 on paper at 10 n 25 yards. My .45 sml did not hit target, so next time i will set target at 5 yards to see what this BOZO is doing

Yes i will take some pics of my learning kit. Well i found the trouble of trigger n lock. Seems when Pedersoli drilled holes for the trigger guard. The worker messed up, to line the front trigger guard screw correctly. They have the rear screw which goes into the stock, at a bad angle. When tightened up properly it puts stress on the stock causing it to distort bad enough it was making the set triggers not engage the detents right. Not sure i have it repaired n fixed right yet. When i get back from Paducah this morning i will try to fire the load off to clean it

I did go out on back side of my 4 acres n primed the pan. I picked out a small stick about 10 yards n shot. It went off fine n even hit my target stick. Lock worked great n so did the double triggers

Well it ended up being Weds. I took my T/C Hawken n my Woodsman Hawken flintlock. I got the .45 Hawken shot at 25 yards n cleaned it n put in case. I got out my Scout .45 flintlock, this thing must be named Double trouble ! Cause that is what it does for me on each shooting session. I have it hitting the small target at 25 yards, it seems accurate enough to put tree rats eye balls out of their heads. It's always sumpin with the flints. It eats the edge off with in 4-5 shots, then i have to change to another flint. Maybe the frizzen has been tempered too hard. The sights are less than good, they can keep you close but no cigar. Think i may better get a Lyman Plains rifle set to work with. Won't be long n this Scout wii become a money pit

After my latest range session, i am going to say the locks are just the pits. Either the frizzen is tempered too hard or the mainspring is too weak or the frizzen spring is too strong. Dang lock is eating my Blk. English flints for breakfast. It has ate 7 flints in 1 dz. shots. Flints are fair priced but at avg. of $2 each it will get costly to play with this Pedersoli flintlock. I may have to sent the lock to DGW's under warranty. I will not buy another Pedersoli flintlock in this lifetime
