I would think something like a 195 Barnes or maybe a 200 gr. SST in a blue harvester sabot with maybe 45 to 50 gr. of N-110 would be more "user friendly!" The short barrel wants a fast powder but the fast powder cannot handle the heavier bullets! A good little bullet you might play with is the Hornady .45 230 HAP (Hornady Action Pistol) I have shot many of them out of my Brux with little, if any, sizing....no wad. I wonder how 4227 would work with a 250gr bullet.

He is in virgin territory! Will have plenty of "stuff" to play with at the range!

short barrel, light bullet = a fast powder for a complete burn, I am in the same camp as Richard, maybe even try the 225 Accuamx.402 with the N-110 and LBH sabot, would still easily be a 200 yd gun.

How much does the gun weigh? And what kind of twist do you have? How's the accuracy?

How much does the gun weigh? And what kind of twist do you have? How's the accuracy? 8.1 pounds 1-20 twist I have shot groups @ 100yds. Under 3/4”. Really haven’t done much load development with it. 65 gr of IMR4198 and 250gr Accumax

If you are going to tinker with N110 you probably wont be able to use more than 35gr without trashing sabots. Smallish amounts of N110 should work with 200-225gr sabotless loads. Roughly no more than 40-42gr. IIRC one of the guys was shooting around 40gr and the Barnes 225gr as a youth load.
