Well boy's I am very lucky so far to be able to post this message. I just got out of the hospital he other day. Spent 6 days in ICU. somehow, I developed a severe blood clot in my right leg which quickly went to both my lungs, I had not been feeling very good for the last month or so and it really got bad prior to my leg swelling up. I had shortness of breath and headaches and nausea , I thought my heart was giving me these symptoms but that checked out good. My blood pressure was high, and my kidney function was not where it was in my prior health checkups and I didn't have Covid so they really don't know for sure what triggered it.
I will be in for long slow recovery which is better than being 6 feet under. I hate going to the doctor and they told me if I had waited one more day before going to the hospital, I would not have made it so I am a lucky man. I'll keep you posted.

Elkman,
I have a hard time going to the doctor as well. Sometimes they won't even see you when you want to go. Glad you staved off the grim reaper. God speed to you and I'm sure they are pumping the Heprin into your fatty tissue. Man that $hit burns.
Get better

Thanks guys for all the support. Sometimes I expect things to instantly improve once you get on this special blood thinner that doesn't happen over night but luckily its winter and its not to bad to be cooped up in the house if it was during shooting season it would be a real bummer.
They put me on Eliquis blood thinner. Iam on Medicare and have a really good supplemental health ins. with no copay put it doesn't carry prescription drugs it does give a discount but not full coverage. I needed to go on the starter pack which is a double dosage for 7 days then two pills a day. with my discount that cost $680.00 and the regular monthly supply is $498.00 Luckly my two doctors fixed me up with enough to carry me through for almost 6months which was a rally big help. The blood pressure pills are cheap less than $30.00 for 3 months. The Patent on Eliquis has not run out so they can gouge people for whatever they want that sucks.
If I think of any good hunting stories I will share them with you.

I was misdiagnosed with a blot clot a while back. They were hitting me with Heprin for a few days before they realized I had Lyme Disease and not a blood clot. Not sure who messed that up. That needle and the few minutes after each shot felt like someone laid a piece of lit charcoal on my skin. Glad you have a path here. Don't cut youself shaving or anything! Get better!

Pharmaceuticals are about as ridiculous as they come. Good on your doc helping you out. Mine has done the same for me a couple times. Something about that hypocritical oath thing to help people and fight crime. Lol.

I had two separate times that I had Pulmonary Embolism's. They are no fun to recover from. Did you do any traveling before hand?. Note to all when doing long car rides or air travel always get up every couple of hours and walk around and also hydrate. If you have any questions on recovery Elkman you can PM me.

I am just now seeing this post as I was in the hospital for a throat cancer surgery. I am glad you got in there in time and are on your way to recovery. You have too much powder and bullets to put down range still. Best to you

Sorry to hear you have problems too Dennis take care of yourself Are they going to do radiation as a follow up. Not to change the subject my good shooting buddy fell on the ice while walking out to burn the trash and broke 3 bones in his leg. It required a rod in his major bone and two plates and 15 screws in the other bones Now he has to have blood clotting injections just like I had when I was in the hospital. You never know when something bad can happen to you.

I feel ok for having had 2 surgeries on my throat since Dec 10th. Getting old sucks.

Best of luck and better times to both Elkman and Dennis. Here lately when I get together with my hunting and shooting friends we always end up talking about what ails us. Getting old is tough, but not getting old is worse I guess. Get well soon. Leftyml
