Has anyone heard of or has one of these. These are manufactured in the USSR, it’s engraved on the top of the action. They shoot really well! I bought one around 10yrs ago and it looked like it had been dragged down the road. It’s a CM2 model. I took my time and gave it a face lift and it looks unreal and shoots the same way. I was told they were a military training rifle. This rifle has won several matches. A few years later I bought another Vostok Ural that I haven’t fired yet. The Ural was the rifle that Russia used in the Olympics. Just wondering if anyone has heard of them.

This is the CM2, I don’t have a picture of the Ural.

That’s a new one on me also. Never hear of it before. If it shoots that’s all that matters.

Man do they shoot and have a great trigger, around 1.5 to 2 ounces. Several thousand were brought into the country a few different times. They were brought in to one place in the country, I’m guessing it was a certain gun store or FFL dealer and they all have to be stamped on the bottom of the barrel where they were brought in to. I’m thinking it’s Knoxville TN that’s stamped on bottom of the barrel.

That is the original stock but it was in such bad shape that I had to have it dipped. After pulling all the dents out I had Johnny Byers to add the flat 3” forend before dipping. These rifles were used with peep sights and I have the peep sight that were on the CM2.

I don’t see him to often. I did talk to him on the phone a couple months back though. He lives in Millers Creek. I actually called him about a benchrest stock for the Ural I have, it’s been laying here for several years and thought about getting it back together and don’t think I want to put the original stock on it. I’d like to find a really low profile 3” benchrest stock. You have any idea’s?

No I don't Chad. Been kind of "out of the loop!" Doing a lot of shooting with my CZ 457 that I put the Lilja 21" barrel on. I got my hands on 3 1/2 bricks of Eley match (1060 vel) that another shooter was not using for $120/brick. He has several more bricks of 1047 and will give me a box to test............if I like? I will buy the rest. In today's world, this is a good price. Its selling for $14.75 a box at Kellogh's in Texas + shipping so $12.00/box with no shipping is good! Does Johnny not have a model/sample for a low profile stock? I would like to see something like the "Terry Leonard" style.
