This is a buck that has been on my radar for the last couple years. In the 3 years that my father and I have owned our farm he has not grown an inch, so we wanted to take him out of the herd asap. But it's tough to do when these mature bucks are nocturnal! Hillbill Rempac with 195 Barnes put the hammer on him. Double lung at 190 yds. I was by myself, so dragging him out in 9" of snow was a chore, evidently more than his rack could handle Attachments:

Glad you were able to get him out of the Gene pool. Looks like a healthy deer otherwise, should be some good eating. Congrats. YB

Congratulations.... I've heard of pulling the antlers off but never done it myself... I guess that's a sign they are getting ready to shed them in your area.

Yeah, I remember seeing somewhere where a guy shot a nice 8 or 10 pt. buck late in the season that ran a short ways after it was hit, crashed into a fence there on the farm when it died, and the same thing happened. When he got to the deer both antlers had come off.

It's always nice to harvest a deer that you have knowledge of. Congratulations!
