Thank you for the add. Have enjoyed muzzleloader hunting for over forty years. Cap and ball, many inlines and brake opens. Jeff completed CVA 45-70 conversion for me on Monday. Will hopefully have the gun dialed in by Ohios muzzleloader season. After reading through some of the forum discussion looks like I need to find a scope that will hold up.

Welcome to a place with a wealth of knowledge for the smokeless shooter. I don't what price range scope you are thinking but a value priced scope you might consider is the Sightron S-Tac 4X20X50 30mm tube. It has many good reviews here and elsewhere and should hold up to the kind of loads you will be shooting. I have bought several of them to use on smokeless muzzeloaders. Camera Land has them on sale until Dec 31st for $275 delivered, a very good bang for the buck, IMO. Scope

Optics seem to be pretty important in these guns but so is mounting it solid.

Are you in Ohio, where? I am located in Wadsworth Ohio. It is in Northeastern part of the state 15 west of Akron and 35 miles south of Cleveland.
