For starters I think my Sinclaire comparator got lost in the mail and will be on the horn in the am. I've had some Berger 155 VLD hunters for some time but i wasn't going to use them do to mag length restrictions. After reading posts from other forums that said load em to mag length and see what happens. So, I loaded 12 rounds 155 Berger VLD Hunter 42gr IMR 8208 xbr in LC84 brass FED 210. COALs were2,868 2.848 2.833 and 2.820. Groups in the same order were 1.335 1.399 .742 .468. The shortest cartridge was the most accurate! Is this because the pressure in the cartridge was rising or was i close to the sweet spot? My rifle is a JP Saure 101 308 WIN and it has a throat like an opera singer! The 42gr load did really well with some 30 cal fmj's that were given to me even being on the anemic side of velocity. Anybody with any Berger experience please chime in. PS. Should I go back to 2.868 and add powder or stay at 2.820 and look for pressures? Max load per IMR website is 45.3 with 155's and 8208

I say stay at 2.820 and add powder, if it liked that much jump, only change one thing at at time.

Kinda what I was thinkin. Based on my lack of experience I think VLDs want no jump or a lot of jump. My Redding comp dies left no marks on bullets or messed with meplat so I'm very pleased! Kinda gotta put the binders on till comparator shows its face. On the .468 group i called the flyer as shooter error or would have been a one hole group! Got cocky!!! Lol
