I was lucky enough to harvest a decent dark horned 10pt on opening weekend of our IN gun season. Watched this fella come in and angle down the trail. He was gonna go into the next adjoining woodlot. I had the crosshairs on him at 140yds but could barely see as the snow had covered everything and completely blinded out the view, including the gun. A couple grunts made him kick it in high gear straight to me. I grunted and then yelled and he stopped at 30yds facing me. BANG from a 7-08 Encore rifle and that was all she wrote. I told my wife I folded him like a newspaper and she said "what?" Lol. Happy to get him. I love snow!

Nice buck Deadeer! dark and heavy. What projectile do you fire out of your 08? Guy at camp shoots the Barnes 140 TTSX into dime size groups.

Nice buck Deadeer! dark and heavy. What projectile do you fire out of your 08? Guy at camp shoots the Barnes 140 TTSX into dime size groups. I tried some 150gr CT ballistic Silvertips I had (moly coated Nos BT) just for fun. It shot so good on the first load I tried, I figured it was a good omen. The shot was in the neck, and it exited down between the legs. So it held together even on that close shot. I am not too particular on bullets. If you put it where it needs to go, they will die. If shooting Barnes, I like it light and fast!

10-4 on the light Barnes. I shoot a 7mm Mag using 120 gr TTSX's at 3,425 fps. Shoots very very good out to the farthest range I have access to. 200 yds.
Today your name defines you! LOL
