Anyone tried vihtavuori n133 and 300gr and above bullets? By powder burn chart it’s between reloder 10X and Benchmark. Thanks

Shot a lot of N-130 but not much of N-133. Saved that for my PPC! I probably did try it many years ago but since my load records are in a loose leaf folder and not on spread sheets, it would take a lot of looking to try to find it. Probably too slow for the bullets I was shooting. If I was going to try it, I would probably start around 90 gr. with a 300 grain bullet and then compare with my loads with similar powders. Kind of what makes this game fun..............trying new stuff. Only use your powder burn rate chart to get you somewhat in the ball park, then start low and work up using a chronograph (unless you just happen to have a Pressure Trace instrument laying around the shop? )

Thanks, I would start fairly low if I did so. I ended up with a pound of it by accident because I was intending on loading a 243win 15” encore pistol and thought I was getting the correct thing and after reviewing the load data I needed n135. Hoping lgs has the n135 and I can just trade it but if not I was going to use it for something….smokeless 45, Grendel or something.

I have 4 lb. of it. I have been shooting 83 gr. of Alliant 10X powder with the Pittman 275 Accumax in my heavy bbl .45 cal. Remington 700 with Hanks LRP modules. I just opened my last lb. of the 10X powder and would like to start using the N-130 in case I can't find any more of the 10X powder.

N-130 is right around the same burn rate as 4198. I would use them interchangeably. I think I also duplexed them with N-110 as I have with 4198.

VV lists the max load on N130 with a 300gr bullet at 57gr although they dont state if that load is compressed. It is however quite a bit more than N120 so what is the max for 4198 listed at? Hodgdon H4198 0.458" 2.775" 53.0 2,346 39,800 CUP 56.0C 2,445 46,700 CUP IMR IMR 4198 0.458" 2.775" 50.0 2,207 37,700 CUP 53.0C 2,323 45,000 CUP So IMO N130 is probably a bit slower in burn rate. Its much slower than N120 in this application assuming both loads are compressed.
