Good evening everyone, new on here, name is Lees for short. Q has anyone attempted to load Barnes SPITFIRE 250’s on the .45 Cal. Boatails
I tried the Hornady’s Monoflex 250’s. Graduation reduced them and they just tumble and hit the paper sideways.
I don’t have a muzzle break, and based on the color of my shoulder, you feel e’m. Thanks everyone in advance

Can you tell us what type of gun your using. Are you using BP or smokeless. 50cal or 45 caliber. The boatail bullet has a habit of blowing through the sabot and if that happens you will have terrible results no accuracy. So more info will be helpful. The boatail on those short stubby bullets is worthless especially at the ranges there shot at so get some regular flat base bullets.
So you will need to find the right sabot and bullet combo that fits your barrel. if you have shot the gun a lot with sabots and have not given the barrel a really good cleaning to remove the plastic from the sabot your results will suffer.

Thank you. I’m using a REM 700 SA .45 Hankins Smokeless MZ I did notice that loading the Maximus 240’s with 65grains of IMR 4198 that was also sending them sideways, however I lowered the charge and shot nice 3/4-1.5

Lose the boat tails sabotless. I shoot Barnes 275xpb with a wool wad at or under moa. They will keyhole without a wad in my rifles.

The 250 gr and 290 gr T-EZs with an Eastern Maine dry wool wad shoot real well for me. Never tried the TMZs.

I had to use a wool wad in my conversion to get Barnes bullets to group "decent"
