Its be a long tough season for 1,000 yard shooting. everyone comes to win the phrase used to be oh I only shoot to have fun that only lasts for a while after that it does turn to beating everyone. It talks a lot of hard work and long hours to consistently shoot small groups and high scores all year long to me that's were the fun actually ls. Testing your ideas out and seeing what really makes a difference and what doesn't.
Well this past weekend was our 10th match On Sat. In light gun I won my relay for group with a 6.8 in group and a 96 score conditions were not great but it seemed to be that way all day long. I only came in 4th in the shoot off so you take what you get. On Sunday in HG. I shoot a 4.222 group and a 92 score there were 3 groups shot in the 4 inch bracket mine was the smallest one shot for the whole match. I took second in the group shoot off I used my 300wsm for that shoot off because I don't want to waist my Dasher barrel that Dasher is shooting extremely well.
So for the year here are a few stats. I am in 1st place for two gun overall group for 6 matches 3rd place for overall score.. 4th place light gun group agg. 5th group agg. for heavy gun 5th for HG shooter of the year 4th for two gun shooter of the year
2nd place two gun winners list 3rd HG winners list and 5th light gun winners list. I had one bad match in light gun that knocked me out of 1st place for shooter of the year that's is a combination of groups and scores you can make up for a big group by shooting a really small group but you can't make a low score even if you shoot a 100 it just doesn't work out that way.
So I was happy with how the year went with all the matches and the World Open match looking forward to next season. The 6mm Dasher was the most popular cartridge used all year long and won most of the matches.
We do have several shooters working hard on the 6.5/47 Lapua and have shot some good groups with them. We are also holding 600 yard matches and at 600 yards the 6.5/47 is doing really well it all comes down to the quality of the bullets the 6.5 guys are using.
