Finally finished my build. Savage 12lrp action w/ PTG boltface. Brux/Hankins 1:20 .45cal barrel w/ tactical brake Cerakoted Burnt Bronze. Boyds stock was pillar bedded, action bedded and opened up the barrel channel and milled a slot for the bottom bolt release. Question: is it normal for the HIS modules to be super tight to the breech plug? They go in about halfway and really have to press fit them in the remaining of the way?

I had the same issue with the HIS in my Encore that Jeff built. The fit is extremely tight. I can only get them in about 1/2 way by hand. I have to be very careful closing the breach to make sure they seat properly. I ended up bending one of them that partially popped out as I closed the breach.

Great Looking Build! What load are you thinking of shooting? You may want to go with the aluminum bronze going forward if you gun can handle heavier loads.

Do you form fit them all before using? I have not done anything like that. The ones I'm using are brass and came from Jeff with the build.

Great Looking Build! What load are you thinking of shooting? You may want to go with the aluminum bronze going forward if you gun can handle heavier loads. No need to change out modules. Your Brass modules is a pressure relief value (safety first). Remember it’s a barrel nut gun and not a full shank barrel.

This is my first SML… so before the season.. Im just looking to find a node around the recommended 65 gn H4198 w/ 275gn Accumax. Then after season.. Ill mess around and experiment a bit…

Do you form fit them all before using? Yes. Some of these modules fit pretty tight. This is by design. I make and sell a primer module re-sizing tool for those that have tight fitting primers. Once fire formed in the plug they will fit and close much easier.

Well… just left the range. Only took 2 sighters after a decent boresight… first shot, windage was dead on and elevation was about 6 inches high… Adjusted the scope accordingly, second shot was dead nuts bull’s-eye. These are my first three shots after the 2 sighters with this rifle at 100 yds. 275 gn Accumax w/ 64.5 gns H4198 and Federal Large Rifle Magnum Match Primers. Haha… Im impressed! And my Buddies were beyond belief… This rifle total weight is 11 1/2 lbs, … has a 1” Pachmyer recoil pad and Hankins Tactical Brake… have no idea how guys shoot these beasts without brakes… Love this Rifle…

I was going to say..nice shooting but groups like that with these rifles are "run of the mill!"...IF, you know how to pull the trigger?----Obviously, you do! Congratulations!
