Well I made in back to the range with a CVA SCOUT 45/70 BLACK converted to the 45 muzzle loader, nothing to talk about now other than its a gun that has some RECOIL!!! with out the BRAKE, best group was one inch, going back with some reduce loads and we will see if it improves....

Made it back to the range, shooting a friends BLACK CVA SCOUT 45/70 converted to a 45 cl. no muzzle brake what a thumber as I mentioned, Well I purchased a slip on recoil pad , the target hopefully I can post, IMR 4198, Fed.215 primer,

Well I tried to download a picture with no luck, first group 1 1/4 58 grains next group 1 inch 63 grains, and the last group all three touched in the shape of a small tringle .668 group, with 65 grains IMR 4198 at 100yds will continue trying to upload pictures,

Well I tried to download a picture with no luck, first group 1 1/4 58 grains next group 1 inch 63 grains, and the last group all three touched in the shape of a small tringle .668 group, with 65 grains IMR 4198 at 100yds will continue trying to upload pictures, Great group!! 65 grains of IMR 4198 and 275gr bullet in a Scout, I bet that load thumps on both ends!!!!

There must be something wrong here on the board tried to download a picture that I posted before but the same thing happened....  ? I will stick to my pop gun N110 loads....lol....🙂

We will try it again this am,  he target is again side ways, the bottom group with IMR 4198 58 grains the middle group with 63 grains, the top group 65 grains,, 275 Pittman, with a wool wad under all shots fired, Hopefully my shooting will get better making more trips to the range

That .688 group is SWEET! There are a lot of cartridge guns that can come nowhere close to that! It would be interesting to chrono that load.... I will bet it produces BIG power and a flat trajectory.

I haven't. 63 & 64 seem to be working good. If I get time this weekend I'm going to get out to 2, 3, & 400 yards, so we'll see how that goes. I'll bump up if I need to

the adjustment under the forearm is a black, smooth headed screw that is locked in place with a very tiny set screw. if you back the smooth headed screw out a tiny bit this will tighten up the forearm and also the tightness of the action or union between the action and barrel. My conversion needed adjusting and my 6.5 creedmoor scout was already good and tight. It can really make a difference in accuracy. It takes very little adjusting on that screw to make a difference in tightening everything up. Here you go Matt, on page 2 Hank and some others mention the same thing it does make a difference I would locktite the set screw with blue 242 when finished the set screw taes a 1/8 allen wrench
