Did a little testing today at 600 yards with my 6mm Dasher I have setup for coyotes. I have been shooting the Hornady 87gr bullet because they were avaible and from all my 100 yard tests they shot extremely well when jammed into the lands. So I thought I would see how they stack up at 600 yards. This particular gun does not have the night scope on it this has a Sightron 8x32x56 with .125 dot and .125 clicks. Conditions where breezy but not terrible. I got dialed in a clay bird on the back bank at 600 yards and shot a 10 shot group which proved to be a handful with this rifle.
The gun is in a Boyds Pro Varmint stock and the barrel is 26 inches long with no muzzle brake I was surprised how much this gun actually jumped around going from one target frame to the next which meant I had to chase each shot and man handle the gun back on the target to but it mildly the gun didn't track very gun. But the group only had 1.750 off vertical with 6 inches of horizontal . I probably could have cut that in half If I could have shot a lot quicker than I did but at any rate those little 87grs will shoot pretty darn good at 600 yards. I need to try them In one of my 17lb guns to see how well they will shoot.
So the 87gr Hornady looks like a very accurate bullet for a reasonable price should do really well on varmints and maybe even deer with a properly place shot.
