Taking my boy on our first trip to Lake Erie for walleye. We are going on a charter to let the pro put us on the fish. We were scheduled to go last year but the covid cancelled/postponed it. The captain was very accommodating and booked us for the same weekend this year. Really looking forward to it as the weather looks good coming up. I will post pics of a hopefully successful trip.

Post spawn bite should be going good. Hopefully you and your son have FUN. Yes sir. My boss, his brother, and sons were there last weekend in the crummy weather. They brought home 31 keepers, 18-22". Said they lost half as many, and caught twice as many undersized, as well as a bunch of sheephead and catfish. So the bite if definately on. The weather is looking good. We will have a good time for sure! |

Hopefully you catch some decent weather. There are a LOT of walleye in the lake right now, population is probably at its highest point in a long time. I'm sure you and your son should have a great trip!

Sounds like fun. Nothing better then walleye fish fry or blackened walleye. Well, perch ain't that bad either but walleye is very very good eating. This past deer season, one of our walleye pro fisherman guys pickeled a couple gallons of perch and walleye and it was also good that way. Hope you get into them.
Silver lake is producing some nice fish too

Our trip turned out great. We finished with 30 in the box. The night before a storm churned up the lake, and by morning, we still had 5-6 foot waves and 30mph wind. That's really something! We had to cruise around at first just to find some clean water. But the weather got better all day and by the end you could almost stand up straight without fear of falling overboard. Lol. We were prepared with proper clothing, ate light, and took Dramamine. Others weren't so well off and paid the price with a less enjoyable experience, lol.  My boy Luke with a scrapper.  He's handy with the electric knife!  |
