Got my Indiana gobbler. Our season started Wednesday, but cold and snow kept me out. Then a couple tough days at work took the wind out of my sails. Finalling Saturday able to make it out in all day rain. Didnt care as high and dry in a ground blind. Sitting in a corner field bordered by a swamp, I had 7 Tom's in view at one point. Best one at 70yds but in grass. Finally called him out after waiting an hour for him to take 2 steps. Boom. 68yds with TSS #9 thru an Indian Creek choke tube. 22#, 9.25" beard, 1" and 1.125" spurs. One and done.

Nearly 70 yards with #9 tungsten. My brain says impossible but I believe you. I certainly wouldn’t have bought those loads prior to you giving your report. They are certainly on my radar now.

They ARE the real deal. God as my witness, and my hunting partner too. Lol. I was skeptical as all get out as well. There was not a single pellet found in the bird either. That stuff is heavy and hard. Check out Oldgobbler.com iirc. Lots of TSS info. They will recommend choke brand/size as well.

I very happily used Rem Nitro #5 for years. They killed everything handily. But no matter what choke I tried, 5 different ones, I could never get a dense pattern at 50yd. I killed a couple at 45yd, but that was it.
Last year I played cat and mouse so bad, and lost 5 or 6 chances at mature birds at 55-60yds, I had to do something about it. So I researched and took the plunge. I actually started with Winchester Longbeard XR. They are fine! I just happened on a box of TSS for $18, and got it for the heck of it. Indiana was kicking it around for the 410, and by emergency order allowed it this year for us in any size gun. Actually #9 or #10 size shot. So I fired a round at 70yds and couldnt believe it. SOLD. A quick scope adjustment and confirmation shot, and the rest is history!
I know one guy using a 10ga Browning BPS who has killed a few at 80+ yds. Our hunting is flat ag fields, so we have a lot of open space to cover.

Got my buddy to go back out. I called in a hoss to 43yd, he shot and missed. Went to a different place and called in several but all hung up. Had 2 Tom's come, but stayed behind a hill in a field. Buddy was ready to leave but I said you gotta put a stalk on them birds. So he snuck over close, belly crawled the remaining steps, and whacked a nice en with his 20ga. He taught me turkey hunting, so I wanted to pay back the favor and help him out. I have since surpassed his abilities and desire to hunt them, but still get him to go plenty.
