Hi, I have zero experience with muzzleloaders, so I decided to dive into the deep end.
I am in the process of putting together a couple of smokeless muzzleloaders for hunting. Here in Quebec we are obligated to use .50 cal when hunting moose so that was another thorn in my side. I will build using stainless Rem 700 Short actions. I am having KS Arms make my barrel blanks, I have chosen stainless steel 26” modified Sendero profile barrels with a 1.250” shank for 5 inches. 1 in 22 twists. I should have the barrels in about 4 weeks. I have ordered the HIS breech plugs, which are on their way. I ordered my barrel blank long enough to safe a piece for a full form die, however I am not sure if I will go that route as it is a .50 cal. I’m thinking it might be best just to stick with a proper fitting harvester or MMP sabot. Time will tell. I am looking forward to putting everything together and getting in some range time. I have a pound of 5744 to try and will also try IMR 4198 and RL-7. Should be some fun times !
Im sure that I will have a lot of questions.
Bruce
