300-325gr would be my guess with that powder. I would opt for 300 due to recoil. jmo

I heard of a person who found 7 boxes of ammo, all the same, and then bought a rifle to go with it. I think as time goes on, we may see more adjusting loads to what powder is available.

Kind of slow for lighter type bullets (250 - 275 gr.). That dimension (diameter) barrel and rifle weight is not well suited for the 300 + weight bullets that 3031 likes. Those break action rifles are more well suited for light bullets with fast powders. But hey, you have the powder, give it a try? For a starter, I would go with maybe 70 gr. of 3031 and a 300 grain bullet.......see what you get? You can always go up? Ignition can be a problem with powders that are too slow and the bullet weight is too light. You need pressure to ignite smokeless powder.

I know the info is some where but I am on the other side of middle age I have some 3031 powder what is the best bullet weight to use with it ?? Hankins LRM mod. system 28" barrel . Thank you for your input 95 of 3031 with 325 Aeromax chronos right at 2950 out of a 28” tube. I can tell you it shoots accurate with a muzzle brake. 3031 is not a very temperature stabile powder though. You will have velocity spreads, ES’s, higher than H4895 for example. This is out of a Bolt Action Remington 700 with Hankins Ignition System and #17 Kreiger barrel. This load would not be safe for a 1” tube, as an Encore conversion or replacement barrel would have.

The hunting load I use is a duplex using 3031. It burns nicely with 275gr bullets, but anything less, there is not a complete burn. The same load that was used with 275gr bullets, but with 250gr bullets gives nearly identical speeds. The barrel is 28".
