The new gun Richard put together for me. Rem UML action, H-S Precision stock, 26" Brux 45 Caliber #6 Barrel , Jewell trigger, HIS ignition with Athlon 2-12x42. Shoot the same duplex of 10/45 of 4759/4198 with all bullets. Shot the 300 XTP, 250 XTP, Parker 275BE and a Harvester Sabot with .40 SST 200 gr. All loads shot 1" or less at 100 yards. This barrel feels more even and smooth than the four 45 PacNor that I have had. Not saying the PacNor is bad as all I have have shot MOA, but this barrel pushing a sabot or smooth sized bullet is just even one end to the other. I can still remember the Savage .50 barrel felt as if they have files in them and very uneven, loose spots and tight spots. Where I would give the Brux a 10 the PacNor a 9 and the Savage a 1. Just waiting on my Meopta R2 1.7-10 to get back from Meopta installed and just pick the bullet I and not the gun choose to hunt with. Yes the Lead Sled now has ate two scope on the MLs. The first was a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 and the Meopta just two weeks later. This was using the Lead Sled with 25 pounds of lead shot. I have now purchase a Bald Eagle Rest and it works great with a should pad.

Nice going with new gun. Next I would try straight 55 gr of 4198 with a wad and without. Also a 250 ftx might fit the bill nice for you.

+1 55-58 4198 has shot well for me also with 275-300gr bullets. Glad you are liking your new rifle.

Clint... there is no comparison of the Brux to the PN. All the Brux I have owned or built are even from one end to the other. I attribute it to the "cut" rifling vs. button rifling.

That should make a very good all purpose hunting gun. 60 gr of H4198 and the 253HC Accumax (no wad) works in my 45 cal 28" Krieger w/HIS ignition. It's first 3 shot 100 yd group with the 253 gr was a .533" at 2620 fps, 9 fps ES and it's first group at 200 yds was less than an inch. Plenty good for most hunting styles out to 300 yds. Lots of possibilities for you to explore...
