I just saw where CVA has a new .40 ML that they say is faster than a .300 Win Mag.

What kind of Performance would a Powerbelt Bullet have @ 2,800 fps? I've seen plenty of Failures @ 1,800 fps!

MSRP $768 with a konus scope and a carbon fiber collapsable ram rod, 2300 fps That would be a very pathetic 300wm load velocity!

They are implying there will be a MR-X 40 and a Paramount Pro 40. Maybe the MV rating is not the same for both. CVA has indead made the wild claim of over 2800fps with the new PB ELR. The most amazing claim though is less drop at 400 yards than the 300Win mag which is total fantasy. You can buy 220gr 30cal bullets with a BC over .600. There is no way in hell a 40cal with a .360 BC shot at the same speed will drop less.

Colorado Hunters would Love this Rifle if it was available with Iron Sights. It would be Legal for Antelope 🐐, Bear 🐻, Deer 🦌, Goats 🐐 & Sheep 🐑. How Much Additional Cost would it be to have it drilled & tapped for Front Sights?

The video I got from CVA showed a bolt action. Not sure why that was done unless it is to compare it to a centerfire bolt action .300 Win Mag.

The 40 is going to be available in a Paramount as well as the MR-X. Last i checked the MR breech is only 1". The Paramount supports a larger barrel OD at the breech. So unless they opened up the MR-X frame to the same as an Apex it cant be as strong. The Apex was only about 1.1" so even then its not as large as the Paramount can support. Plus the MR frame is alloy. Its not all steel like the Paramount.

They would need to change the buttstock too. The MR type buttstock is too tall for Iron sights. The Paramount Pro however IS offered in a Colorado legal model with open sights.

Latest info is
Accura MR-X and LR-X will be available in 40cal but the only speed im seeing listed is 2300fps. Might be a 209 but a optional Variflame plug popped up in my latest Google search. CVA VARIFLAME CONVERSION KIT QRBP FOR ACCURA MR-X/LR-X

Hank has a DI replacement plug for Accura also. Yes but we dont know if the MR-X/LR-X uses the same plug as the rest of the CVA line up. Just like the Apex ML QR plug was not the same. These too might be different.

I just saw where CVA has a new .40 ML that they say is faster than a .300 Win Mag. We been doing that with a 45 caliber for years, and honestly faster than a 300 Win Mag, not just advertised for selling guns.

Using BH209 powder though in a sabotless 40cal. Ive yet to see anything like that posted on any forum's (Black Powder section). Retails for under $1300 and that is MSRP. About $1150 street price.
Toby got over 2700fps in a prototype with 150grV of BH209. So it sounds like it could be a tad more than just advertising hype.

26 in barrel 150grBH 40cal 2700fps? Your gonna have a lot of powder on the ground! Looks like a nice rifle and I'm sure it will be a good deer gun. I dont have a 40cal but that powder column has to be the better part of 6 inches long! Hope the rifle does well for CVA but I dont see the numbers.
