I have a smokeless build being built right now....Barrel is a Lothar W .45, 25”, 1:16, 5.5” shank then Medium Palma to finish with a shockwave brake. Josh K of PVA is doing a Prefit for an Origin with an ASG breach plug. You may ask why the fast twist? He is working on solids apparently and will be trying to get some extra BC out of them. He has run a faster twist (1:14 @2900) with no ill effect. It will be riding in an arctic Manners CS2.0 w/ Gen 2 mini chassis, 12” Arca rail, and Timney Calvin elite.
I’m fine with a 302/300gr ASG/pittman with H4198 around 2700 FPS, but I like to tinker with loads and was curious if anyone has run 4895 in a shorter 25” tube? A 325 around 2950 just sounds awesome. I don’t want to have issues with caking or sand blasting my brake with excess powder that failed to ignite. Any experience or advice would be appreciated, this will be my first ML.
After discussion and recommendations the next step will be finding H4198 or H4895 ha.

4895 is typically used with longer barrels, I have used it in 26" but it's not optimal, it needs room to burn. 70 grains of 4198 and a 300 in a 25" tube should net about 2770 or so. No trying to discourage the 16 twist but I never got stellar accuracy from the one barrel that I tested.

What is your powder charge and which ignition system are you using?

The % burn is a bit low. I guessed at the powder column length and the volume of the BP/internal capacity. I expect actual velocity to be a bit faster, actual pressure to be a bit lower. Whatever, it seems that 4895 is a bit slow for this application. 5-6g VV110 under 5 g less of H4895 would pep it up a bit and increase %age burn. H4198 would make everything better, imo.
